I’ll try to be brief. I’m getting tired of seeing pro-Republican bias in the Telegram. Almost every political comment has a seriously pro-Republican lean to it.

Many citizens start medical help via 911 call. And when we consider those, who train for these life-threatening situations as part of their careers, hospital staff, paramedics and police officers are the first to come to mind. But the first responders to many emergencies are not medical staff or law enforcement but security officers. Oct 22, 2013

David fails in his effort to explain that his lovely policemen typically provide first aid level care, CPR, and automated external defibrillator (AED) usage. Certified individuals should have received much more instruction than someone who is trained in basic first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) but they are not a substitute for more advanced emergency medical care rendered by emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics.

First Responders are those brave men and women who respond to emergencies in our communities and protect the public. They include firefighters, EMTs and paramedics, search & rescue teams, emergency management personnel, and others.

Maybe David Leigh’s attempt to place cops on a pedestal above all First Responders is an effort that will benefit him in the future during a traffic stop.  Belton Police Dept. repeatedly breaks the law by parking cars on bridges

Belton's public works director, Les Halbauer and city attorney, John Messer, did not know who is responsible for identifying what sidewalks are dangerous.

From early as 2000, when city manager Sam Listi came to Belton, the mayor and city council have repeatedly ignored citizen’s requests to improve areas in south Belton that are dangerous and have dilapidated infrastructure and poor aesthetics.

Many south Belton citizens rely on good transportation systems (roads and sidewalks) to get to stores, public buildings and restaurants. Currently, due to existing, dangerous conditions of sidewalks, pedestrians are forced to walk in the streets which create more danger to the public. They simply do not care.

Many homeowners are not aware that when they purchased their homes, even though the property they purchased is within their property pins, a dangerous sidewalk that always existed in front of their home, in the city’s right-of-way, is the responsibility of the homeowner to repair. Should a pedestrian trip, fall and become seriously injured, the nightmare becomes that of the homeowner. The homeowner is liable and can be sued.
